Oklahoma Youth Orchestras

Through quality instrumental music education programs for students and accessible cultural offerings for the community, Oklahoma Youth Orchestras provides opportunities for artistic excellence to central and western Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Youth Orchestras program, founded in 1977, provides advanced orchestral education and performance opportunities for talented middle and high school musicians. The Academy seeks to strengthen already existing school instrumental music programs, and to supplement instrumental music programs that do not include orchestra. It provides the opportunity for youth musicians from many different schools to work together to challenge their performance skills under the direction of respected conductors and music educators.

Owasso Youth Orchestra

A nonprofit organization, the Owasso Youth Orchestra was formed in 2011 to increase education and performance opportunities for young musicians and to bring an expanded repertoire of symphonic music to the Owasso and surrounding communities.   Members of the orchestra range from ages 8 to 18, representing private, public and home school students.   OYO allows young musicians to increase confidence and skill as they learn to play music in a group setting from professionally trained musician, Melody Garrett.  Our vision is that these students will be future performers, teachers or advocates for the arts in an Oklahoma community and to help others to develop as young musicians.
